This one was hard to read for me on a personal level. I could see myself in the main character. I must offer a thank you to the author for penning a book for sexual abuse victims that document the journey to healing! I must say that although there were obvious differences between the main character and myself, I can say the journey to healing has been the same. This book convicted me in areas that I still have not perfected but hinders my growth. I find hope in knowing that this book will be helpful to many women and men affected by sexual abuse looking for ways to outgrow being a victim!
When I started on this book I was so into it I burned my food, this book has crying one minutes, have you trying to be Godly and not want you to murder James Madison, and then Jayme has to trust God, I found myself just examining stuff and things I went threw also, then you start to see in this book like you the character and why God let stuff happen, if someone is going through something this is the book to read if you do not know about forgiveness this is the book, if you do not want to trust this is the book...I would go on but do not want to say to much but Lakiska Johnson you did it with this book, this is not the first book I read from you but this did it.
This was a very good read by this author. The storyline of incest, sexual abuse, emotional pain is something that goes on from generation to the next generations. This is a subject that is tabor to talk about and for families to stop it. Especially the mothers all in the insanity of holding on to a man no matter how low Dow and disgusting he is.I am so glad the author showed that no matter what happens God is always there waiting on you to turn to him. He will send someone into your life to guide you back to God and his Word. Even thought we turn away from God and blame him for the bad things that has happen to you, he is still there and has not forsaken you.I recommend this book to read and also it makes a good book club discussion. Your attention will be held from the beginning to the end.Cassandra H.
I would have given this book 5 stars because this was a great story and had me anxious to know what would happen next. Abuse of others is something I pray about and this author did an excellent job of pulling you in and empathizing/relating with the main character, Jayme. I chose this rating only because there are a grammatical errors, which are a little distracting to the story, but not so much to preventing you from enjoying the story and message. And yes, I would buy another book by Ms. Johnson.
This was a quick read. At times it seemed the pace was quicker than needed with how situations wrapped up. I didnt feel connected with any of the characters as there wasn't much character development or details. This does not include details of the abuse but more insight into the struggle of the characters. I appreciated the bible versus but some of the scenes were a bit unrealistic but i get that its not based on a true story. It was a decent read but not fleshed out enough to have me be emotionally connected.
My first read by this author and it won't be my last. This book brought out a sensitive subject matter but also showed the resurrection power of Jesus Christ. Reading this book truly showed the redemption power of Christ. And how love can find you even when you don't want it too. A very faith filled book that tells a tale of so many other women and men that has suffered at the hands of abusers. This was an awesome read! Very emotional and fast paced! Awesome job LaKisha Johnson!
I had no clue this book would hold my interest like it did. While reading,I didn't fantasize like I always do, I was just amazed at how God places the right people in our path at the exact moment we need them. I'm speechless. God's mercy is so real and true. It has moved me to recognize and comfort his damaged people when I encounter them. Thank you so much for this inspiring book. May God continue to bless you
I've never been abused but I no many that have, this book helped me to be always prayerful and patient because you never know what a person is going through or what they have hone through. Love people where they are because their sctoons speaks louder than their words. Mrs. Johnson take a bow your books are anointed & bring about repentance, strength, encouragement, hope, faith, love and full deliverance.
