I did not expect to like this book and i didn't. I actually loved it. It's the perfect light read when you want to just relax with a fun book. It was just what I needed.Drew is approaching a major birthday so he decides to take all those who are meaningful to him on a cruise. We meet Tess, his current wife. They have no time for each other and despite agreeing to "no kids" Tess is rethinking that policy. Mona is his second ex-wife. Mona and Drew still work together and have the same Type A, can't leave work for a moment personality. Mona is remarried and brings her current husband along(who is a wealthy womanizer), even though she wants to win Drew back. She also brings along Max, her adult stepson. I believe Mona is the character we are supposed to dislike, and I did somewhat, but I found Tess and Sarah a little too sweet sometimes. And both Tess and Sarah have self-esteem issues, and that annoys me sometimes, so Mona's catty remarks always made me smile (and they were spot on too). Sarah was the first wife, Drew cheated on her with Mona. Sarah has 2 children with Drew, one is a teenage girl and the other is an adult son who is married with 2 kids of his own. Since their divorce, Sarah really hasn't moved on. I wouldn't necessarily say she is still wanting Drew as much as she was just so busy with her kids she put her own needs last. With all this family/ex-family drama in a confined area of a cruise, things are bound to happen. Some is rather unexpected but it's all quite delightful. I highly recommend this for a good beach or vacation read, or any time you need to just relax with a good book.
I give this book five stars just on the basis that it made me laugh so many times. I never read these "chick-flick" novels unless it was recommended to me personally, just because all the fluff can get annoying. But this book had me in tears! It kept me close to the characters and I understood where their motivations and actions met. It was just so darn funny. Even though I'm not a chick-lit fan, this book had me rolling around laughing and I was so sad when it was over. Definitely recommend this book!!!
It was nice to read a book that didn't make the traditional bad guys one dimensional and the ex wives relationships were interesting. Some good plot twist to keep it fresh. I'd read other books by this author anytime.
The Other Wives Club was an okay read, pretty predictable and laughs in some spots but for me, it wasn't that funny. I've always had a great sense of humor and I could name books that made me laugh until tears came down my cheeks...not this one. I was okay with the characters in the book, they were pretty much defined but all-in-all, just okay.
This was the first book I'd read by Shari Low but it certainly won't be the last. It was one of those books where you keep promising yourself you'll stop reading at the end of the chapter but finally put the book (or Kindle in my case) down when you hear the dawn chorus outside.The characters were all so beautifully drawn and vivid and the interplay between characters very believable. Overall a light, humorous read but with its poignant moments. Would be a great holiday read...or even a book to read if you needed a holiday
Such a great read.. be cautioned you may need a pad and pen to keep track of the relationships.. lots of unexpected last minute "did not see that coming" will buy more of Ms; Low's books.. Good clean reading
I really liked this book and I was especially pleased that the nasty wife didn't turn out to have a heart of gold under her phony façade. A fun read and I enjoyed getting to know the characters.
Fun summer beach read! Loved the characters and their adventures. Of course, it's fiction--people with money and the problems they can afford to wallow in.
