I am SO glad I found this book. I read Desperately Seeking Santa (which is excellent, btw) and noticed a reviewer mentioned that two characters in that book were from Superhero. Eli Easton is a big favorite for me, so I don't know how I missed this one. Maybe I enjoyed it even more, having glimpsed Owen and Jordan in their future through Desperately...)The book is exactly what the blurb says. Jordy meets Owen when they are 7 and they are friends for life. Jordy realizes he is gay and realizes he loves Owen well before Owen ever wakes up to the truth. But their journey is sweet and loving. And when Owen realizes that the life he wants is slightly different than the life everyone has planned for him, he goes after it with humor and integrity. Truly a feel good story. This one will go in my 'comfort reads' collection.
Such a beautiful coming of age story with a perfect blend of emotional and sexual awakening. Happy, sad, warm, funny, special...What makes this book perfect are the characters, both of whom I just adored. It was wonderful to see the friendship grow between Jordan and Owen from the time they bond in the playground, starting a life-long friendship and this friendship develop into love.Told in alternating POVs, we get insight into both boys/young men and a real sense of their thoughts and feelings. For Jordan it is very much about his love for Owen and the heartache he faces knowing friendship is all they will have. For Owen it is about his confused feelings and struggle to be the son his parents want.I liked the way the story was told, with Owen always knowing that Jordan is gay and standing by his friend. He doesn't let Jordan's sexuality stand in the way of or change their friendship. This continues from the time of Jordan's first admission to him (after a wrestle/kiss in the pool at age twelve) to Jordan's final coming out at school when Owen's sporting buddies pressure him about his friendship with a gay guy.Sex plays a role, particularly as Jordan lusts after Owen, deeply attracted but knowing (well, thinking really) that Owen is straight. An "accidental" fumble in the pool when they are young, is still something Jordan thinks about years later... "I'd spun that one kiss in the pool into so many variations I could probably claim a Guinness World Record for Most Exhausted Fantasy.". But it is one encounter much later that really sets the ball rolling for changing their lives.The story is an emotional roller coaster from hilarious one minute,"Holy sexual paradise, Batman, I was so f***ing glad I was gay!" to weepy, within the space of a paragraph or two! "The reality sunk in. I would never had Owen like that again. An intense, burning pain spread through my chest. It was so strong it took my breath away."It hurts," I whispered."I'm sorry, Jordan." He hugged me tighter. I could feel his tears on my cheek, but I had none of my own to give."I loved the strength of Owen, whether it was his support of anti-bullying at school or his strength in making the right decisions about his future with Jordan. His maturity when considering his options and making the choice to follow his heart gives faith that their future is secure.I loved the pure love that Jordan had for Owen and I loved the way they both want the other's dreams to come true - Jordan wants Owen to have a successful wrestling career and Owen wants Jordan to fulfill his artistic talent.I loved the ending and the way the story was resolved. By the time I read the last chapter I had happy tears and was smiling stupidly at my Kindle.

I love Eli Easton's stories.As I started reading, I knew how this story would progress: BBFs as boys; one falls for other as teenager; uncomfortable for straight one; High School become strained; part for college; years later united. Read it many time. WOW! I was wrong. Should have known better as it was an Eli Easton story.Jordan and Owen were so real together. Their friendship strong. I loved these guys. Jordan realizes as he gets ready to enter his teen years that 1) he is gay and 2) he wants his best friend in a new way and 3) said bestie was straight. He realizes all of this in one instant as he kisses Owen while they are in the pool.Seriously, I claim complete disassociation from my actions on that day. My mind was not driving the car. If you doubt me, try being a twelve-year-old boy with yo biggest sexual fantasy pinning you against a wall mostly naked in a poo, and then tell me I'm lying.Owen made it clear to Jordan that there was never to be a repeat. They would ignore it and continue on with being friends with no benefits.At that point I would have promised anything as long as he didn't cast me off like a favorite shoe that had something foul sticking to its bottom.Own didn't want me the way I wanted him. He didn't like boys. That was bearable. But I would die if I lost my best friend.The MCs were wonderful. They were entertainingly written, especially Jordan who gave me many smiles and laughs. It was a treat being in his mind. They also touched on very serious subjects. The author handled them with absolute balance of levity and emotion. This is their story and theirs alone. I would love to visit them again in a short story, maybe a holiday story, The ending is little rushed. I would have loved some heat after they had turned 18.

This is a grand little novella and it will make everything better.I am not a fan of Young Adult and there is sex in this which is .... not my thing with young adults...but I had read the second book in the series first [book:Desperately Seeking Santa|36582719 (like I do) as secondary characters so I had met Jordan and Owen as graduating college seniors so going back in time didn't chuff me,This is a a wonderful sports romance as well as a loved forever, friends to lovers story. Owen and Jordan love each other. Full stop. It is awesome.All the secondary characters are great as are the very realistic conflicts,It is a really wonderful, emotionial rich, sweet romance.
