I already keep colubrids, but I'm curious about branching out to ball pythons. I purchased this book to get an overview on husbandry for this species. There were lots of good pictures of the various morphs that are available. However, the book seemed to focus on imported BPs. With the number of quality animals being bred in captivity now, it seems silly to devote such a large part of the information to wild caught animals. I feel like a lot of the information I wanted was missing from this book; I only paid shipping and a penny for it, but probably I would have been better off going to one of the many reputable sites online for the information in this book and more. The book itself was used but in excellent condition. I couldn't tell it from a brand new book.

This book is an excellent reference for someone who's getting their first ball python. It has information on selection, feeding, general care and husbandry, troubleshooting, and a lot of information on color morphs and the associated genetics. I enjoyed the book a lot, and learned a few things from it (even though I've been keeping and occasionally breeding snakes since the early '90's). No ball python owner should be without this book.Actually, all the books in this series and by this author are excellent. If you find a book on your animal by Philippe De Vosjoli, you absolutely can't go wrong dropping the coin to get it. Highly recommended.

Good overall - I like the genetics section. It is too much about imported pythons and how to treat pretty serious stuff at home - things that most casual enthusiasts or pet owners would just leave to the vet. I wish it had more about setting up a cage and feeding a healthy snake.

I don’t know why I bought this, maybe because I was excited bout my new pet on its way to his new home...YouTube was my new education on this particular specie...lol but I did read it and found a lot I didn’t know about these reptiles

I was told this book was written by the experts and had everything in it you need to know about Ball Pythons. I was shocked to find that there is zero information about shedding, what the different shed phases look like, what to expect and what problems to look for! There is some good information on care.

I love this little book. It has a whole chart section on diseases and tells you the symptoms and how to treat it. VERY heplful.

This came promptly and was very informative and helpful.

Seems to be a good basics book for general care information. Nothing however, that I haven't already read elsewhere online. I thought that for the price it would be a longer and more in depth read.
